Design Wall Monday #7

One of the UFO's on my wish list (see sidebar) is a BeAttitudes BOM that I started in 2008.
On my design wall today is my finished 4th block!
The reason why it is taking me so long is because once I have the block base pieced, the pattern traced onto a fusible, cut out and ironed down, I want to be done with it! But then there is the buttonhole stitching ( by machine) to do around every little shape, and that's boring to me, so I procrastinate that step! My mind wonders to all the fun quilting things I could be doing and it takes great self control to stay at it.
In Ontario it is "Family Day" which means most people have a vacation day and of course I hope to quilt the day away.
This is the project I am going to tackle. This is a UFO of a long time quilty friend, and I can't wait to dig in and figure out what to do with it.
Why is it that other quilter's UFO's are so much more interesting than mine?!?
Could it be that I am procrastinating the buttonhole stitching?!?

  1. I love the Be Attitudes quilt. I quilted one for my friend Mary last year. It is a great quilt - good luck on the stitching.

  2. You do a wonderful job stitching around your appliques. It looks perfect--that's one of my favorite parts of making those blocks-amazing how we all have different tasks we love/loathe.
I have that Nancy H. book, one of these days I'm going to get to that quilt too. :)

  3. I, too, like stitching around the applique pieces, seeing them become a completed little project. I usually prepare several blocks and then devote extended time to the machine. Your work looks really good, keep it up.

  4. Those blocks can get fussy.... but, they're so cute when they're done. I like Gari's idea!

  5. I understand how you feel about putting the blanket stitching off. Yours are so even it must take a lot of concentration. I find I am happiest doing hand stitching when I am waiting for an appointment or in the car (with someone else driving of course). It always seems to make the time and the project go faster.

  7. I love your BOM BeAttitudes. They are so sweet. And the friend's UFO looks like it will be fun to dive into.

  8. Lucky you for getting the day off. Not everyone in ON gets the day off. Us postal workers had to work and everywhere I delivered to, people were asking me why I didn't have the day off. Even though we are government workers, it's not in our contract to have this day off. That's okay by me because if we do get this in our next contract, they'll just take some other holiday away.

  9. Someone once suggested that if you have a project you really are not enjoying then just put in one thread a day. And thread your needle for the next day before you put it down. I am amazed at how well that advise works.

  10. Are you stitching around them by hand or machine? It's going to be a lovely quilt! ;-)

  14. I know what you are saying about the button hole stitch. I did a dozen RCMP blocks a few years ago, and I thought I would go crazy before they were done. I never did do anything with the blocks. I gave away 5 to foreign friends, but the rest are sitting. arg.

Family Day was spent out of town with my sister and her family. I made ribs and pad thai. Turned out to be an excellent combination and not a speck of left over food.

  16. It's a bunny!!! Well, actually it's a Wabbit - teehee! You'll get through the tedious buttonhole stitching in no time. You'll be beyond excited when you're done. I'll be on the sidelines cheering you on - "Go, Kathy, Go" :-)

I find myself coveting someone else's scraps - lol.
