Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween everyone!
I have a finished quilt to show today, and that's no trick... it's a treat!

A long time UFO is done! This was mystery quilt pattern #21 from Quiltaholics from 2007.
It sat in the UFO closet for a lot of years. I didn't like that the quilt was square and doesn't fit a bed. But I finally just decided that I wanted it done...
and now it is!

I tried a spiral quilting pattern (tutorial by Crazy Mom Quilts) for the first time and it went well. For some unexplainable reason, the size of the rings grew as I moved out from the center of the quilt. I am excited about trying something new, and I am happy with how it turned out.
I am linking up with A Lovely Year of Finishes to brag about my finish. This finish marks the half way point of finishing my 2014 UFO list - 6 done and 6 to go!
Happy Halloween!

I can see the motion going around most of the way out to the borders. Looks good! Square quilts are good for just covering your lap on a cold evening.

Great looking quilt. I want to try the spiral quilting on a woven quilt top I made over a year ago. I took the craftsy class on using the walking foot to quilt. So hopefully I can figure it out. Need to get some batting do you have a favorite brand to use when you machine quilt? Out of my element here.

I think the enlarging circle looks intentional.
There is no way on earth I could have kept that circle looking so circular without marking. Great job!!

Brava!!!! Great job and good for you to try a new technique. It worked out very well and enhances the quilt beautifully :)

Well done! The spiral quilting works really well on this quilt. As for the quilt being square - I have one of those. The shape was not my first choice either, but while it doesn't drape over the foot as I'd like for a bedspread, it looks great folded at the foot of the bed and feels warm and suggly when it gets pulled up as an extra layer on cooler nights.

Great to see that the spiral worked! I did circles on a quilt and started with a circle in the center! Of course that meant lots of starting and stopping :-(. I have another one I'd like to do and debated a spiral instead so I can just keep going, but now I'm going to go for it since yours looks great! How wonderful is that eh to get a UFO done!
